Outcomes from the PCC Meeting: 8th January, 2025

  • Kneeler Project: Some £300 was raised from the Epiphany lunch to support the conversion of kneelers into seat cushions.  A prototype is being created and there are plans for an exhibition of the kneeler designs – hopefully around Eastertime
  • The Monthly Charity Appeal Programme: This was approved for the year with several suggestions from members of the congregation being included.
  • Bereavement Journey Course: Jane, Nicki and Nicola are leading this course which we are now advertising: 7 sessions starting in February.
  • Heating System: Work is being done to repair the system and the Council is committed to seeking a maintenance contract when this is completed.
  • Appliance electrical testing: Clive has completed the testing of all appliances; we still need to test the circuits.
  • South Aisle Project: Our architect attended the meeting and issued the proposed detailed plans for the South Aisle to include a technical support area and kitchen servery.  These plans will be displayed for everyone to see.  It is proposed that all parts of the fixtures are custom made using oak.  The sink area will be hidden from view across the nave.  Our architect will now draw up final plans to submit to the Diocese and we will also be seeking advice/support from the Diocese related to the use of oak panels for storage and how we might use the Desborough Pew Panels which cannot be cut in any way – they are Jacobean.
  • Calendar Planning 2025: A Christmas Fair was added to the calendar (22nd or 29th November depending on the date the school is having its fair.  The Council were also in support of holding three monthly themed ‘coffee & company’ mornings in April, May and June on dates when parents of children in the Taplow Choirs are waiting for their children.  We also hope to mount another Art Exhibition in May/June.
  • Churchyard Sycamore Trees: A neighbour is concerned that several sycamore trees are now so big, they take significant light from their house.  We are to seek specialist advice and quotes to address this problem.
  • Worship: We will express a willingness to host the Churches Together Songs of Praise again this year.
  • Maintenance: We are exploring options for regular cleaning of the church gutters
  • Friends: Next quarterly newsletter out next month and we are going to trial an arrangement for the next Taplow Talk in which refreshments take place in the café area and then we sit in rows (mainly on chairs) for the talk.
  • Treasurer’s Report:  The treasurer’s report and the budget were approved; the good housekeeping of our treasurer was acknowledged.
  • Wheel Chair: We have acquired a folding wheel chair for the assistance of people from their transport to their pew/seat.
  • Electoral Roll: We agreed the process to create a new electoral roll in time for our APCM on Sunday, 18th May, 2025
