Outcomes from the PCC Meeting: Tuesday, 12th May, 2026

  • Director of Music Post: after over four months of unsuccessful advertising with just two expressions of interest and no applications, we agreed it was unlikely that we would be able to appoint a replacement to Neil on the same terms. The meeting agreed to seek sponsorship to re-advertise at a higher annual honorarium and also to explore separating the organist duties for St Anne’s and St Nicolas and offering the option of a Sunday morning choir practice (one hour before our service) in place of the Friday evening one.  The option of not appointing an organist and using recorded soundtracks for music in worship was not the favoured option but is not ruled out if we can’t resolve the issue in the next month or two.
  • Raising our regular income: The PCC is committed to striving to pay our full parish share which we can’t do at present.  In addition to raising the awareness of everyone on the Electoral Roll to the need for regular Parish Giving Scheme offerings, we are also exploring possible further income from church hire and other income sources.
  • South Aisle Project: With the approval of our plans, we are now seeking quotes for the work prior to applying for grant aid.
  • Inclusive Church Initiative: The PCC recognised the value of this scheme in raising awareness and providing assurances for minority groups.  We are exploring what might be our first steps in seeking this accreditation.
  • Joint Youth Initiative: With other local churches, we are participating in an initiative to provide appropriate experiences specifically for young people.
  • Finances: Recognising our difficulties in paying our full parish share and the dangers of this for the future of our parish church, significant number of people have generously raised their contributions so that we are able to pay more and get closer to the full amount.  The PCC will review the position again in September.
  • Other matters: The PCC also addressed church cleaning developments, the date and organisation of our Christmas Fair (28th November this year), our involvement in the Bucks Historic Churches Ride & Stride, issues regarding the fabric of our building and safeguarding matters.
