- Asbestos Removal: This is taking place at present and will be finished in two weeks. Members acknowledged the arrangements which are thorough and appropriate. The Council also reviewed all fundraising progress including the position regarding our four grant applications.
- Fundraising: The meeting reviewed with appreciation the BBQ/Raffle and September Coffee Morning. Arrangements for the October Coffee Morning are as September, the arrangements for the Harvest Fun event were finalised, the proposed lunchtime afternoon tea on 1st November was agreed and preliminary planning was done for the Christmas Fair on 29th November.
- South Aisle Project Update: Permission to proceed with this project has been held up as appropriate authorities are consulted. The meeting expressed some frustration regarding this but accepted that we cannot embark on fund-raising and installation plans until we have the relevant permissions.
- The Director of Music/Organist Vacancy: This post is being advertised in the Church Times during September. The closing date for applications is 3rdOctober. Preliminary arrangements for the appointment process have been agreed depending on the responses to the advertisements. Neil’s final Sunday with us (28th December) will be a special occasion and plans are being made for this.
- Floral Foam: Due to the fact this substance cannot be re-cyled and is clearly a danger to the environment, it has been agreed that from the start of next year, it will be banned from our church and all wedding/funeral users and local florists are being informed of this.
- Worship, Mission & Outreach, Pastoral Care Sub Committees: Written updates on the work of these groups were submitted to the Council.
- Fabric: The Council are aware of issues related to the chimney stack over the vestry and pigeons getting into the Tower. These issues are being addressed.
- Friends: The sub-committee for the Friends is due to meet soon. The recent Taplow Talk was very successful (we shall ensure the clip-on mic is used in future). The next Talk is on 6th November and the Council shared ideas for future speakers.
- Treasurer’s Report: The treasurer’s written report was accepted. Reference was made to the completion of the Hampson Vault project and changes in our energy contracts.
- The Kneeler Project: The Council learnt that we have the resources now to fund the conversion of all available kneelers into seat cushions. This process will continue as we are able to get the work done.
- Parish Newsletter: We are going to review our communication strategy with particular reference to our links with the wider community. This will be the subject of discussion at our November meeting.
