On Friday, 24th July starting at 7:30pm, Taplow Village is hiring the church building for a charity fund raiser in aid of Thames Hospice. The film chosen by the village is Monty Python’s “The Life of Brian”.
Jane, our Vicar writes: “Whilst there was a lot of fuss when it first came out, most Christian bodies, including the Church of England, withdrew their objections long ago. As a young woman who enjoyed the brilliant sparkling wit of the Monty Python team, as well as being a committed Christian, I went to see it when it was first released to find out what the furore was about. It isn’t a critique of Jesus or Christianity. Brian is so far removed from Jesus (albeit according to Monty Python born in an adjacent stable) that he makes an excellent counterpoise. Come and be entertained, and support a valued local cause in Thames Hospice”.
