Outcomes from PCC Meeting: 10th September, 2024

  • Creating permanent servery in South aisle: The Diocesan Advisory Committee representatives have now visited our church and submitted a ten page report outlining what will be required for this work to be approved.  The Committee supported the vision of our church for this project and encouraged us to look at the South aisle of the church as a whole and create a permanent office area and improved storage facilities at the same time.  This requires full architect’s plans and the PCC resolved to commission these plans and incorporate the use of the Desborough pew panels (now being stored).
  • Our Heating System: Following the problems we had last winter, our heating system is about to have a full ‘overhaul’ and we will then be looking to establish an annual contract for service.
  • Pew Leaflet Email initiative: This has been generally welcomed and the evidence shows it is being well used so it will continue.
  • History of the Church: Tony and Hilary have produced a new leaflet for visitors to our church.  It is available at the back of church. Please take a copy – you are sure to discover something about the church that you didn’t already know!
  • Bell push outside the west doors: to enable those who need to come in via the west doors to do so, we are creating a new system for wheelchair users to press a button outside and alert sides-people to the need to open the west doors.
  • Our Monthly Charity Appeals: As part of our outreach mission, this initiative will continue into next year.  Our Charities Sub-group will consider charities for next year incorporating core charities from this year plus local, national and international charities considering any which our own congregation are involved with.
  • Living in Love and Faith: The PCC representing a church committed to being a welcoming church with Open Hearts, Open Minds and Open Doors, welcomed the House of Bishops’ report commending the Resource ‘Prayers of Love and Faith’ and voted to accept and adopt this resource as an integral part of its ministry.
  • Use of Lego in Worship: this autumn, our Worship for All services will use lego as a teaching aid to the theme of these services.
  • Bereavement: we will be running a Church of England  ‘Bereavement Journey’ course in the new year.
  • Finances: We continue to struggle to balance our income and expenditure.  Particular concerns discussed are costs related to sorting out our heating system and the costs of repairs in the old churchyard at Taplow Court.  There is to be a fund-raising talk about the old churchyard to be held at Taplow Court.
