Our current Charity Appeals

As a church community, we are committed to raising money for those less fortunate than ourselves as well as continuing to work hard to balance our own books. This year, we are nominating a different charity to support each month. We have a box at the back of church for cash donations.

Our April charity is Thames Hospice which has been serving the community of East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire for more than 36 years.  Thames Hospice works in partnership with local healthcare colleagues to provide specialist palliative and end-of-life care services to people aged 16 and over in their own homes and within the Hospice.  It delivers care that is agile and responsive, giving patients and their families choices about the care they receive, supporting the physical, social and psychological needs of patients and their loved ones. Thames Hospice receives a 26% financial contribution towards their operating costs funded by NHS England and need to raise over £38,000 each day to fund services 365 days a year to the people who need them most.  Click this link to find out more about their wonderful work and please give generously using the charity box at the back of our church or the card reader (recording the date and amount—not your name so we know your donation is for Thames Hospice).  Thank you.

Our March Charity Appeal: This began on Sunday, 3rd March with a jam and cake sale which raised £320 for Transform Trade which is a global community of farmers, workers, collectives, campaigners, donors and supporters who work together for trade that values people over profit.  The money we raise will go to help women in Bangladesh to set up and run community shops so they can buy household essentials locally rather than travelling 10km to the local market.  Click this link to learn more about this wonderful project. You can still make your cash donation in our charity box at the back of church and if you are using the card reader, simply put the amount and date on the adjacent card so we know where you want your donation to go.

Our February Charity Appeal was for USPG (United Society for Partners in the Gospel working with churches worldwide in God’s mission to enliven faith, strengthen relationships, unlock potential and champion justice. USPG has three strategic aims: Rethinking Mission, Energising Church and Championing Justice. We raised £142 for this cause during the month.

Our First Charity Appeal this year was for our own Taplow for Ukraine campaign: we supported Maidenhead URC work in sending another lorryload of items to Ukraine for those in need. There was also the opportunity to donate money which is badly needed there.
