Advent Course: The ’Travelling Light’ Course begins tomorrow evening (Monday, 28th) at 7:00pm.  The first session is called ’Heading for the Hill   Country’and you can find out more about this course on There is no charge; simply sign up on the sheet in church or tell the Vicar.

Pop-Up Christmas Shop:  If you haven’t yet attended our wonderful    Saturday morning open house at St Nicolas Church, you have one more opportunity to come next Saturday morning (3rd December) from 10:00 to 12:00 for coffee and cake and the purchasing of our cards, the new beautiful 2023 Taplow Calendar, together with Jim’s woodwork, Christmas gifts and various other things.  Most of these items are available for sale after the service today at St Nicolas Church too. 

Traidcraft: Next Sunday is the first Sunday in the month and therefore it is Traidcraft Sunday so don’t forget to bring your cash to purchase the many items which Traidcraft has on offer.

Our Patronal Festival: Next Sunday, we also celebrate our patronal festival and after the service, there will be an opportunity to stay together for soup, rolls and mince pies.  Please sign up on the sheet at the back of church if you are able to stay for lunch.

Burnham Christmas Fayre: This is next Thursday (1st December) and at 6:00pm, there is carol singing.  If you are willing/able to join the carol singers next Thursday, please have a word with Jane who will give you more details.  Thank you.

QR (Quick Response) Code in pews: For those attending the Worship for All service at St Nicolas Church today, if you do not use the Parish Giving scheme for your church offering, you are now able to make your offering using the little QR code labels in our pews or use the ‘Tap for Taplow’ machine at the back of church.  Thank you.

Services next Sunday (Advent Sunday): There is Choral Matins at St Anne’s Church and then Worship for All at St Nicolas Church.  The latter service is called ‘Wake Up! Are you ready?’  Then at 6.30pm,our own choir together with the choir of All Saints Marlow will be singing at anAdvent Carol Serviceat All Saints Church (the church by the Thames bridge).Starting in candle-light, the traditional Service will include five well known Advent hymns & carols, Readings and prayers.  More details from Neil or any member of the choir .

Monthly Financial Update: Insurance – We have just renewed our annual insurance £4,836. (£403 per month).  Electricity – Our contract expired on the 30th Sept.On  current usage our bills will increase from £720 to £1,440 p.a.(£60/£120 per month).  Gas – Our current contract expires on the 5th November 2024.Current spend £3,840 p.a. (£320 per month)

Zoom Meeting to Pray; 10:00am Wednesdays Weekly: our Deanery now offers a half hour Zoom prayer meeting hosted by St Paul’s Church, Slough. You can join this Zoom call any Wednesday by going to meeting ID: 523 com. 327 5615 Passcode: 2022 The meeting also goes out on Facebook.

We need a new Church Warden: Following her new job in the ambulance service, Janet is having to step down from her role as churchwarden so we need to find someone else to work with Tony & Hilary.  Please pray about this and consider whether you or someone you know might be called to support our church community in this way.

Prayer for the Homeless of Ukraine

Almighty and merciful God, whose Son became a refugee and had no place to call his own; look with mercy on those who today are fleeing from danger, homeless and hungry.  Bless those who work to bring them relief; inspire       generosity and compassion in all our hearts; and guide the nations of the world towards that day when all will rejoice in your Kingdom of justice and of peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

St Nicolas joins the REFILL REVOLUTION!: We are reducing our plastic waste by refilling used plastic bottles instead of sending them to be recycled or wasted.  We have teamed up with the REFILL HUB (see advert in our Christmas newsletter) to supply the church with cleaning materials that createPLASTIC WASTE.  We already have products in church which you can try.  Look out for our supplies of:

Hand Sanitiser Gel 70% alcohol(French Vanilla)

Anti-bac All Purpose Cleaner(French Lavender)

Washing Up Liquid(Rhubarb and Lemon)

Toilet Cleaner(Spearmint and Peppermint)

The REFILL HUB visits Burnham Market on Wednesday mornings 8.30 – 13.00, and several other venues.  Times and prices are given on their  If you wish to reduce your own plastic waste you can either take your empty plastic bottles to the  Refill Hub, or bring them to church and Hilary will get them filled for you.  Chat to Hilary for more details.
