Scarecrow Festival: As you will see, this started yesterday and continues to next Friday (29th).  We hope you enjoy the different images related to our local life.   You are invited to a simple harvest lunch after church today and, if you would like to bring friends and family to see the scarecrows, the church will be open for a couple of hours each day this week.  If you can help by serving tea/coffee on any of these days, please sign up on the list and, if    possible, bake a cake for us!

Bonfire and Bangers: (sausages not fireworks!)  This will end the Scarecrow Festival in the Rectory Garden at 6pm next Friday (29th).  Please buy tickets in advance from Jane (£5,  children under 5 free).  Fundsraised will be split equally between a charity caring for   children in the Yemen and helping set up our community cafe in St Nicolas Church.

Remembrance Sunday: This is now just three weeks away (14th November).  There will be services at both St Anne’s Church and St Nicolas Church  beginning at 10:15am.

Tiny Tots & Tea: Our new toddlers’ group runs on Wednesdays, 9.30am to 11.30am.  Do spread the word about this; pre-school children with an accompanying adult to enjoy toys, crafts, stories, singing and making new friends!  Lots of families come.

The Bible at a Glance: Do you ever wonder about how some of the books of the Bible got there?  Do you sometimes think about who wrote what and when?  The Bible at a Glance is a wonderfully simple online resource offering short introductions to each book in the Bible as a sort of ’launch pad’ into it.  They don’t just say what to expect from each book but why you should read them.  Some books appear hard to get into but these introductions provide the confidence to open up any book, to know what to look for and what the relevance is for our own lives.  Have a look online at The Bible at a Glance.

Parish Giving Scheme: Our treasurer, Jessie Cooper points out to us that the very best way to contribute to the work of our Parish Church is to use the Parish Giving Scheme. If you do not yet use this way of donating to church and you would like to know more about it or ask any questions, please contact Jessie Cooper (Parish Treasurer) in confidence… by email: mjessiecooper@btinternet.com or phone: 01628 603187
