Autumn has arrived with rapidity! As the nights draw in and the temperature drops, it’s good to remember that the warmth of God’s love surrounding us never grows cold.
We face challenges as a church as we brace ourselves for the necessary fundraising to fund a new boiler and radiator system. But in the process, we also have lots to look forward to, not least the quiz evening on 19th October, the music history lecture and afternoon tea on 26th October, the launch of our new toddler group after half term, and a community film event on 16th November as part of our Remembrance season as we discover more about the war veterans from the hill tribes of Burma and the work of H4FA. And very soon we will be into Christmas season – look out for details of the Christmas services later in this newsletter and a fabulous Christmas concert!
Outside the church, the nation’s focus, apart from the Rugby World Cup taking place in Japan, is very much on the Brexit deadline of 31st October. Our Bishops wrote to all clergy last week setting out what they believe the church’s role is as we face the challenges ahead. A summary of the letter is included on our website.
