God of time and eternity, you gave us the gift of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. In his vigour and humour you showed us the wind and flame of the Spirit, in his selfless devotion to Queen and country we see the sacrifice of the Son, in his care for creation and the outdoors we see the hand of our Father the creator. Make us people who love as he loved, lead as he led, and bring life as he brought life.
God of the future and the past, be close tonight to Her Majesty the Queen and all Prince Philip’s family and friends. Turn their grief to truer living, their sadness to firmer hope, and their sorrow to deeper joy. Give them grace to continue the Duke’s legacy, and to continue to inspire and guide this nation in the ways of justice and peace.
God of now and forever, we entrust Philip to your everlasting arms, in sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life, promised by and embodied in your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.
