This Week’s Notices

Please open this post to read the notices for this week.

Changes in Covid Restrictions: Following  government changes in Covid restrictions from 19th July, we now await written guidance from the Church of England. No changes will be made to our current arrangements until we receive more information.  Please continue to wear a mask whilst in church, give one another space, and sanitise your hands on entry and exit.

The Friends of St Nicolas Church, Taplow: If you have not yet received a leaflet inviting you to join our ‘Friends of St Nicolas Church’, please do take the leaflet from church or register on the ‘Friends’ page of this website. Registering as a ‘Friend’ means you support our work and you will be kept up to date with what the church is doing in our community.

Meals in the Rectory Garden: If you missed the Coronation Chicken meal in the Rectory Garden on the occasion of the Queen’s Birthday last month, you will be pleased to hear about the next meal which is going to be a tasty curry, dessert and a glass of wine at either 1pm or 6.30pm on Saturday 31st July.  There will be Chicken Balti, Mixed bean masala, Vegetable curry and riceNicola and Jane are happy to cater for vegetarian, wheat free, dairy free and low fat diets!Sign up sheets are at the back of church. This menu seems to be popular. If fourteen people have already signed up for a particular time, you are welcome to add your name and telephone number underneath the numbered list, and Nicola and Jane will confer about possible numbers again on 27th July and be in touch.

Focus on baptism:  It is lovely to receive enquiries about baptisms again now that Covid restrictions are easing.  Just before lockdown in March 2020, we baptised Sebastian whose family live in Taplow Riverside and we now look forward to baptising his little sister Olivia at Worship for All on 26th September. But before that, we will be welcoming Edward – whom you may have spotted in a sling with his Dad at the back of church recently – to baptism at St Nicolas Parish Eucharist on Sunday 1st August.  We also look forward to baptising Henry, Freddie and Harry in September and October.Harry and Henry’s parents were both married at St Nicolas just a couple of years ago and Freddie’s parents recently moved to Taplow.

We pray especially for Edward, Henry, Harry, Freddie and Olivia and for their families as they prepare for this special moment.

Take these little ones dear Father into your loving arms,
Cover and protect them, guide them from all harm.
Fill their days with love and joy, nurture all they are,
Help them as they learn and grow, to feel loved and set apart.
Speak to them of truth and light, so that their souls can sing,
A cry of praise, a song of joy, and a love for peaceful things.
Take their little hands dear God and bless them as they pray,
Let a beautiful love story begin on their blessed baptism day.

Pilgrimage to the Holy Land: Because of the current situation in Israel and Palestine, the proposed Pilgrimage to the Holy Land at the end of September has been postponed – probably for a year. Do talk to Jane, our Vicar about this to get more information.

Parish Giving Scheme: Our treasurer, Jessie Cooper points out to us that the very best way to contribute to the work of our Parish Church is to use the Parish Giving Scheme. If you do not yet use this way of donating to church and you would like to know more about it or ask any questions, please contact Jessie Cooper (Parish Treasurer) in confidence… by email: mjessiecooper@btinternet.com or phone: 01628 603187
